Official: Runet to work autonomously if cut from global Wed
MOSCOW, Oct 26 (PRIME) -- The Russian segment of the Internet, the Runet, will work autonomously in case of its disconnection from the global Web, Sergei Khutortsev, head of monitoring and public communications network management at the General Radio Frequency Centre, said on Wednesday at a forum.
“Annual drills were conducted in August. This year the list of participants was expanded, involving the key owners of Internet resources – media, the financial sector, (video platform) Rutube,” Khutortsev said.
“The drills proved readiness of the Russian segment of the Internet for autonomous functioning in case of its cut-out from the global network.”
In order to ensure reliable work of the Russian resources, it is necessary to ensure their independence from foreign software libraries and provide available and massive use of national certificates of encoding keys to access the country’s resources, he added.
